how to make a sprite node get push off screen [on hold]

I am working on a game currently but I am new to swift. In the game, a rectangular pole pushes a ball off of the screen. the poles always move at a certain location and if the ball is occupying that space the ball should continue getting pushed along the path of the pole. the pole is able to push the ball, however, right before the ball fully leaves the screen it goes through the pole and is back in the screen. What properties can i assign to the ball or pole to fix this?
