mail merge takes long time to finish

I'm experiencing time wasting while doing a mail merge using a macro. I used steps:

  1. Get the source file (Excel file) from using mail merge option in MS Word.
  2. Complete the merged document finally.

but nothing happens once I complete this task. Note, after 30 mints around merge document get complete.

I want to know why it takes long time to complete this task.
