The size of the file influence in the performance of the program?

i was arguing with my friend and he say something interesting to me "the size of an class does not influence in his performance if the language is compiled"(example an file with 1000 rows will be accessed in the same time as an file with 50 rows?). He is right?why? and what about interpreted language is different?
