Can I write a “custom task” for SAS EG that will help tidy my code?

I've just come across the functionality of SAS Custom tasks, I'm finding getting more information on how to make it work rather opaque and possibly outside my current skill set (writing dlls).

What I'm trying to do is build some more "modern" IDE features into SAS EG if possible.

My first test case would be to apply some custom formatting to my SAS program (indenting, capitalisation, white space rules), refresh the code in the EG session and save the bookmarks put into the code.
