Dictionary for brute force attack using gramars (educational prupposes)

I have proved a dictionary to get a password but it doesn't work. It only try all the passwords without combinig them. I want 2 options: 1)How to combine the passwords. For example if the password is catdog and my dictionary have the words cat and dog how to combine them. Would it be a brute force attack or it is other kind of attack

2)How to make a grammar to try all the possibles words.
