How to simulate a mountain profile in 3D surface plot python

I'm trying to simulate the profile of a mountain as a 3D surface, on which to work for the evolution of an avalanche. I thought of a Gaussian style function, or a scatter plot based on the various alitudes. can someone give me some advice? or know how I could at least set up the problem thank you so much
